The Camarillo/Oxnard Airport Authority is meeting this Monday June 6 at 7:00pm

To make you voice heard send an email no later than 6:30 pm Monday to [email protected].  In the subject line put “TNG issues for Airport Commission” or something similar.

Agenda

  • Proposed 22-23 budget is on the agenda
    • The budget summary provided to the public excludes depreciation expense – this is not in accordance with GAAP*.  Depreciation is a real expense and should be shown in accordance with GAAP*
    • Budget (including depreciation) shows operating loss for both airports of almost $1.2 MM!
    • Operating loss for Oxnard is $1.5 MM
    • OXR budget includes $1 MM for a new fire truck (ARFF).  The only reason this truck is needed is because OXR maintains an approval for passenger service (known as a Part 139 certification).  Since passenger service is no longer provided – and hasn’t been for 14 years – does this significant expenditure make sense?

Agenda Full Packet

  • Proposed 22-23 budget is on the agenda
    • Improvements to Campus Park – the park is located close to the airport/within two airport protection zones so the Authority needs to sign off on this development
      • This development is east of the airport – further from the airport than Teal Club or Portofino – and thus is in the area where plans are generally descending at low power.  As such noise is not a major concern
      • Positive to see a use other than homes this close to the airport
      • The issue of lead from low flying planes descending to land over a public park should be looked at

* GAAP – Generally Accepted Accounting Principles – “The purpose of GAAP is to ensure that financial reporting is transparent and consistent from one organization to another.

Please contact your elected representative

Contact the Airport Advisory Commission and the Camarillo and Oxnard Airport Authorities and let them know you support landing fees – per thousand pounds landing gross weight.

The Camarillo/Oxnard Airport Authority meets next – this Friday April 8 at 12pm.  Please also send your email to them – same address:  [email protected].  In the subject line put “TNG issues for Airport Authority” or something similar.  This one should be sent Tue or Wed.

You can also Zoom into the meetings to watch them and make any comments verbally.  Instructions to Zoom into these meetings are provided below.

Your participation is critical – if there are no comments suggesting otherwise, these boards will assume everyone is satisfied with the status quo.  If you are not satisfied with the status quo, this is a key opportunity to let elected officials and other leaders.know.

Thanks for participating!
